Wet Hammock Community - Rookery Bay

Stand on the boardwalk and take a look around. The hammock hosts a variety of plant-life. You will see a cluster of ferns as you turn to the right. A cluster of saw palmettos can be seen in the understory on the opposite side of the boardwalk.

When the photo is first loaded you are looking down a straight section of an elevated wooden boardwalk, bordered by ferns and trees to the left and saw palmettos and trees to the right.

Navigating to the right, a tangle of thin tree trunks and large ferns grow beyond the boardwalk. Continuing to the right, you see a curved section of the boardwalk bordered by ferns and trees to the left and saw palmettos and trees to the right.

As you continue the 360-degree turn to the image’s starting point, a green understory of saw palmettos predominates.

Navigating up with your mouse, you can see a cloud-covered sky. Navigating down, you see the South Florida Information Access (SOFIA) web site logo, which is linked to the SOFIA main page (http://sofia.usgs.gov).
