Biscayne Bay "on the Rocks"

(This photo is a 360-degree IPIX interactive image, which allows you to navigate with your mouse: up, down, right and left, in order to see the entire surrounding landscape.)

When the photo is first loaded you are standing in the rocky, shallow, greenish waters of Biscayne Bay. Note how shallow and clear the waters are here. A glimpse of the northern mainland can be seen at back left, and a partly cloudy, blue sky can be seen above the horizon.

As you continue to the right, the calm Bay waters fade into the horizon and a thickly vegetated, man-made Spoiled Island comes to view in the distance. A bit further right, and beyond the clear waters, the southern mainland and a rocky-edged Spoiled Island comes into view.

As you continue the 360-degree turn to the image’s starting point, a canoe floats in the serene waters and more of the northern mainland can be seen.

Navigating up with your mouse, you can see the blue, partly cloudy sky. Navigating down, you see the South Florida Information Access (SOFIA) web site logo, which is linked to the SOFIA main page (http://sofia.usgs.gov).
