Leakage to the aquifer from the channel (volume of water per unit channel length per unit time) is equal to the sum of:
(a) the transmissivity of the aquifer on the right side of the channel multiplied by the difference between the surface-water elevation in the channel and the piezometric head directly beneath the channel bed on the right side of the channel. This is then divided by the difference of distance from the center to the right side of the channel and half the top width of the channel.
